The Waterfront: Port Imperial to Lincoln Harbor

For visitors, the waterfront is the easiest place to begin. Hotels, ferries, the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail, public parks and the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway are concentrated along the river, and the Manhattan skyline remains in view for much of the route.

Hamilton, Boulevard East & the Palisades

The upper township provides a very different experience from the waterfront. Boulevard East runs along the top of the Palisades, where historic streets and parks overlook the Hudson from high above.

  1. Hamilton Park — 773 Boulevard East. The Township describes Hamilton Park as a landscaped skyline overlook with benches, lawn, an Alexander Hamilton bust and the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial.
  2. Understand the duel-site context. Alexander Hamilton was mortally wounded in his July 11, 1804 duel with Aaron Burr on the Weehawken dueling grounds below the Palisades. The original ledge does not survive in its historic form.
  3. Walk a portion of Boulevard East. This is Weehawken's classic elevated Manhattan-view corridor, especially impressive around Hamilton Park and nearby overlook points.
  4. Visit Water Tower Park. Park Avenue at 41st Street · a small reading park at the base of Weehawken's landmark historic Water Tower.
Best simple history-and-view combination: Hamilton Park plus a Boulevard East walk gives first-time visitors the strongest introduction to upper Weehawken without needing a long itinerary.
